My Brother Sam is Dead

My Brother Sam is Dead
by James Lincoln Collier & Christopher Collier

This book is about how the Meeker family was torn apart by the American Revolutionary War. Sam comes home from Yale and tells his family that he is going to fight for the Patriots. Sam comes home from Yale and he is excited about the war. He wants to be a Patriot but his parents are Loyalists. His father does not agree with him fighting for the Patriots. He doesn’t believe it is right to fight the King. Tim, the little brother, is stuck in the middle unable to decide if he wants to be a loyalist or a Patriot. The whole family is torn between the two sides and because of this they have many troubles ahead of them. Later, Father takes Tim to Verplanks Point to sell cattle and goods for the tavern they own. On the way home they get jumped by cowboys who are really cattle thieves. The cowboys capture Father. Now, Tim has to travel home alone with all the goods, during a blizzard
This was a very interesting book. You will find that there are many twists and turns in this amazing book about the Revolutionary War. My Brother Sam is Dead is not just about the war, but it is about the feelings and emotions of the people that lived through it.
